
ABOUT
Joanna is a writer, editor, speaker, and artist. Her writing has been published in Azusa Pacific University’s literary magazine, The West Wind, and California Baptist University’s literary journal, The Dazed Starling.
She has interned as a copyeditor and transcriptionist with Bigger Press and Duarte, Inc.. As an undergraduate, she was student editor for The Dazed Starling and profiles/assistant culture editor for CBU’s 2020-2021 Angelos yearbook. Additionally, Joanna was a founding member of CBU’s Writing Center, where she tutored students in writing and co-authored a textbook outline for introductory English classes. Currently, Joanna is a copyeditor on The West Wind.
With a background in Theatre performance throughout high school and university, Joanna is well-versed in public speaking. Recently, she traveled with the non-profit organization Youth With A Mission for three months in Brazil, where Joanna and her team spoke to over 100 churches. She is passionate about using her public speaking experience to connect with and empower women.
In addition to writing and editing, Joanna spends her free time creating art. She has an art and photography instagram, @ingold_jo, where she posts sketches, collages, and funny doodles. Her art has been featured in The West Wind. Like the New Yorker uses political cartoons, she wants to use her artistic humor to lighten up serious topics.
Joanna has a B.A. in English and History from CBU and will complete an M.A. in English from APU in 2026. She is a member of the Sigma Tau Delta English Honors Society, and currently works in APU’s History department as an editor and graphic designer, where she crafts content for brochures and social media pages.
